Helpful Self-Esteem Websites

William James, considered the first American psychologist, published his seminal The Principles of Psychology in 1890. In that 1200 page work James coined the phrase "Self-esteem" and expounded on it. Since then much has been written on that subject.

Dr. Nathaniel Branden, one of the leading authorities on self-esteem and author of The Six Pillars of Self-Esteem (copyright 1994 by Nathaniel Branden, Bantam, New York ) and other books on self-esteem states that "Apart from disturbances whose roots are biological, I cannot think of single psychological problem... that is not traceable, at least in part, to the problem of deficient self-esteem. Of all the judgements we pass in life, none is as important as the one we pass on ourselves."

You may find the following Self-Esteem websites helpful because, as Dr. Branden notes, "a human being cannot hope to realize his or her potential without healthy self-esteem..."
